A Brief History of Recovery Canada - The Wellness Network

Recovery Canada - The Wellness Network is a self-help, electronic support and information service. The founders of Recovery Canada - The Wellness Network are very well versed in the benefit of self-help support via electronic media; they have been involved with supporting networks via electronic media since 1995 and have been sponsoring and moderating several large, highly successful internet-based self-help forums since 1997 under the auspices of an organization that specialized in serving survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault.

In statistics gathered over approximately a one year period, members of that network posted more than 70,000 messages of support and encouragement to each other. The forums quickly became a means of facilitating people to help each other along their healing journey - a means of helping people make miracles happen. The forums enabled people worldwide to become one sharing, supportive community, unhindered by distance or time and because of the anonymous format, in relative security.

The decision was made in 1998 to expand the scope of the self-help support network offered and to build on a theme of healing and wellness for anyone struggling with life-affecting challenges and circumstances. Whether you are coping with a chronic or life-threatening illness, are dealing with the pain of childhood abuse and trauma, or are looking for a place to find information or support to help you get through daily stresses, you will find caring and understanding from the members of the Recovery Canada community; they understand you because they are you!
