First Person Plural: My Life as a Multiple

Cameron West, Ph. D.

Written by the man with Dissociate Identity Disorder who was on the Oprah Show this February (1999), this book is exactly what it says it is: Cam's life as a Multiple. Written like a novel, complete with lots of dialogue and description, what I like best about this book is how his relationship with his wife is presented. It gave me a fresh view of what my husband goes through both because of my abuse history itself, but also because I have DID--a hopeful viewpoint, definately, but also very honest. There are three (I think) scenes in this book that are pretty triggering--episodes when Cam's alters tell about the sexual abuse his mother and grandmother inflicted on him, so be careful of those. There's also three of four references to self-injury (some graphic) to be ready for.
