Wisechild writes in her introduction: "The Obsidian Mirror is my story of healing from incest. It begins in the time before remembering, when despair felt like a heavy stone inside of me." True, true, true. She goes into some detail about the sexual abuse she endured, the hostile emotional abuse she suffered from her mother, but also the "inner voices" that helped her through it all. This book is brave and smart and quick to read--it's very easy to get wrapped up in the struggles she faces and because of this you might feel (as I did) a delightful sense of triumph when you reach the last page and see that she is healing marvelously.
Read with support, though--the abused described can be very triggering.
